Faculty Surrogates and Faculty Delivery Service

Faculty Delivery Service is available to users with Faculty Surrogate accounts. This service provides faculty, and their authorized designated borrowers, with campus deliveries of Vanderbilt and interlibrary loan materials. Users with a faculty surrogate card can configure or create an account in the ILL/Faculty Delivery system to place requests. When users log into their surrogate account in Acorn, they will see a "Deliver" button on search results screens.

What Is Faculty Surrogate Account?

Faculty Surrogates are issued a designated borrower card and can check materials out in Acorn on behalf of the faculty member who authorizes the account. Surrogates may also use the surrogate account number that appears on the card to access the Interlibrary Loan and Faculty Delivery Service online system. Please call Interlibrary Loan(615-322-2408) or email ILL for account assistance, or follow the instructions below.

Already Have a Surrogate Card?

If you already have a faculty surrogate card for Acorn, a matching account may already be available in the ILL/Faculty Delivery system and the account is ready to configure.  If there is no matching account, you may register for such an account.

1.  Configure an Existing ILL/Faculty Delivery Account for Delivery Service

With a faculty surrogate card,  log in to the ILL/Faculty Delivery system. Use the surrogate account number in place of your VUnet ID, and use the surrogate account PIN/password instead of the e-password. If successful, then follow the prompts to activate the account to use Faculty Delivery Service.   NOTE:  If no prompts appear,  go to Change User Information and select "Faculty" from the options for Group.

The surrogate account number appears on the back of the surrogate card: Use only the numbers, ignoring the letters. For example, if "a012345t" appears on the card, the account number is "012345". The default PIN/password is the first 4 digits of the account number (e.g., "0123"), unless you have changed it.

Once configured, you may use your faculty surrogate account to have Vanderbilt and ILL materials delivered through Faculty Delivery Service. For fastest delivery, log into Acorn, find the item to be delivered, and use the "Deliver" button to request a loan or copy of the item of interest.
