One of the largest problems is that, while it has made it very easy for viewers of web pages to email web authors and those they cite, it has made it even easier for SPAMMERS to harvest millions and millions of email addresses using "robots" that prowl the web looking for email addresses. Second, it has made it very easy for malware (viruses, trojan horses, worms) to propagate via email.
